At its 5th hybrid meeting, the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg IPA VI-A “Greece – North Macedonia 2021-2027” Programme convened on February 21, 2025 in Skopje and approved for final evaluation 19 projects with a total budget of nearly 24 million euros.
The partnerships in the approved impactful projects include Ministries, Regional Authorities, Municipalities and municipal public utility companies, Regional Health Authorities and hospitals, waste management agencies, Universities and research institutions, cultural organizations and other entities from both Greece and North Macedonia.
By bringing 19 projects into the final evaluation stage, with a total budget of nearly 24 million euros, we are strengthening cooperation between the two countries, investing in critical sectors that will improve the quality of life for citizens and create new opportunities for sustainable development. Coupled with the recent approval and signing of the Subsidy Contract for the strategic project BorPres2—aimed at establishing a new border crossing at Lemos Prespes (Greece) – Markova Noga (North Macedonia) with a budget of 7,727,272 euros—95% of the Programme’s total budget is activated.
We are focusing on promoting a circular economy and the efficient management of resources, contributing to the transition towards a more resilient and green economic model. At the same time, we are enhancing the protection of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure, reducing all forms of pollution and upgrading both the urban and natural environment.
We place significant emphasis on promoting equal access to healthcare by strengthening health structures and supporting the transition from institutional to community care. Additionally, the promotion of culture and sustainable tourism serves as a catalyst for economic development, social inclusion and innovation, enhancing the connectivity of local communities.
Together, we are paving the way for a better quality of life for our citizens and unlocking new opportunities for sustainable growth.
